Training Day for Saginaw Township Fire Department
The Saginaw Township Fire Department received a great opportunity to train in a vacant house, Wednesday, October 27. The house, located at 3650 Shattuck in Saginaw Township, was donated by Dr. Donald Sabourin, DDS, 3456 Shattuck Rd., who plans to tear the house down and use the site for a new office building.
According to Jim Peterson, Saginaw Township Fire Department Chief, the training involves the use of artificial smoke for search, rescue, and ventilation exercises. While several firefighters entered the house in full gear, two others worked on ventilating the roof using an ax and a chain saw.
