...Romance Author...S.A.I.L. Day at St. Stephen’s
St. Stephen Parish School, 1300 Malzahn Street in Saginaw, celebrated its 18th annual S.A.I.L. Day, Wednesday, March 2, with “Traveling Through History . . . And the Beat Goes On,” as the theme. Students participated in special S.A.I.L. (Science and Art Inspire Learning) activities throughout the day, which included Super Science, with David Lamb and Brian Cressman, Drummunity, with Lori Fithian, Bones, with Dr. Danielle Duncan, a presentation by Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum, animals from the Children’s Zoo, and animals of the rain forest presented by Wildlife Safari, featuring such creatures as a Burmese python, an alligator, and a Fennec Fox. In the afternoon, a performance was given by the Saginaw High School Drum Line, as well as a special exhibition in the school gym by the Detroit Pistons. At least 100 parent volunteers and teachers planned the day of “hands on” learning opportunities. There were several presentations highlighting various science projects, art projects, musical presentations and a selection of live animals.
