Sandie Parker’s first cookbook, “Recipes from Sandie’s Galley,” offered great cooking ideas for home, camping or even on the boat. Parker lives on her boat, the “Nice-N’-Nauti,” in the summer, and cooks many of her dishes in the galley, the boat’s kitchen.

She is constantly creating new dishes and meals for family and friends, and with their urging, along with her readers, Parker decided it was time for another cook book.

“Every time I made a dish that was “yummo,” I would take a picture of it and write it up,” Parker said. She was collecting so many wonderful recipes by doing that, she just didn’t want them to go to waste. “My husband had to be the taste tester, and he says every recipe in both books are his favorites.”

“Gone Overboard” is filled with a collection of family favorites such as Crock Pot Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya, (page 82); Pot Luck Baked Beans, (page 94), Chicken Marsala (page 85), Six Layer Chocolate Explosion, (page 99), Melt In Your Mouth Flank Steak, (page 61), and Super Shrimp Cakes, (page 78).

Anyone can make the recipes in this cookbook, and know the finished product will be delicious. Parker has made every recipe in both books. She would start by combining one or two recipes, going by her own taste to come up with a more flavorful meal. Parker says, “I happen to like all kinds of flavors, using fresh spices when I can get them.”

Parker worked with a new publishing company this time, including color photos on glossy paper for the divider tabs. The publishing company told her it was the most beautiful book they’d ever done, and are considering using it in the kits they send out.

So, where did the title come from? Parker explains that while visiting her daughter, Bethany, in South Carolina last October, they stayed up to watch the Food Network, had some wine, and started brainstorming. After more wine, and a lot of laughs, several ideas were tossed out and discarded. Finally, they both decided on “Gone Overboard.”

“Gone Overboard” is not only a boating term, but signifies the all-out effort Parker put into the new cook book. It has more recipes, color pictures, tabbed dividers, plus Parker’s hints and tips, things the first book didn’t include.

This recipe book is not just for boaters, it is for everyone who wants to make something simple, know it will be good, look good, and become a favorite for family and friends.

“Gone Overboard” sells for $21.95, while “Recipes from Sandies Galley” is only $15.00. Both books can be purchased at Pats Foodland in Freeland, The Country Sampler in Green Acres Plaza, Violets Blue, 115 4th Street in Bay City, or online at www.sandiesgalley.com and www.sandiesgalleyandmore.com. More locations will be available soon to purchase both cookbooks.
