...Romance Author...PRIDE in Saginaw hosts annual fundraiserPRIDE in Saginaw, Inc. hosted their PRIDE in the USA 5th annual meeting and fundraiser, Monday, February 15 at The Dow Event Center. Terry Rock, PRIDE president, and Dr. Jack Nash, 1st vice president, presided over the event, introducing PRIDE board members and officers, as well as presenting awards for commitment and investment in the city of Saginaw and the Great Lakes Bay region. The fundraiser was sponsored by Dow Chemical, Absolute! Building Maintenance, and Mast, Foulds & Co., P.C. In grateful recognition of their commitment to Saginaw as demonstrated by their investment in the City of Saginaw, awards were given to Ken Westlund, Robert Hohn of Paxson Oil (accepted by Brian Bond), and Carol Cottrell of Covenant Healthcare, accepting for McNally House. The Good Neighbor Award, in grateful recognition of their contribution to the betterment of the Saginaw Community, was presented to Health Delivery, Inc., which was accepted by Jody Scorsone. Also being honored were Judy Wolgast, and John Markey of Absolute! Building Maintenance, each presented with a "Ten Year Clock," representing 10 years of commitment to PRIDE in Saginaw. Rock also presented the First Annual PRIDE Presidential Award for Outstanding Volunteerism to Jim Conger. Guests were encouraged to enjoy the heavy hors d'oeuvres, and participate in the silent auction while listening to music provided by Dan Kramer, one-man band and D.J., and later watching Dan's highly entertaining comedy show. Among the 100 items offered for auction were tickets to David Sedaris by the Dow Event Center, a gift basket by Princing Pharmacy, an American flag by Senator Roger Kahn, a gift certificate by West Side Decorating, four full-day passes to Splash Village by Zehnders, an electric toothbrush by Dr. Jack Nash, a Baggallini Bag by Binder's Hallmark, and a weekend stay by Fairfield Inn. PRIDE in Saginaw would like to express their appreciation for each and every auction donation, and wish to thank everyone for coming out and supporting their organization. The fundraiser helps with operating expenses, and all the expenses of the events organized throughout the year for the community.
