PRIDE in Saginaw Receives $10,000 Grant from Consumers Energy Foundation

PRIDE in Saginaw, Inc. has been awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from Consumers Energy Foundation. The grant was presented by Tom Begin, Community Services Regional Manager for Consumers Energy, at the meeting of the PRIDE Board of Directors on January 14, at The Saginaw Club.

“We seek out organizations like PRIDE in Saginaw that serve a very good purpose,” said Tom Begin. “And after receiving so many letters from PRIDE employees, boasting about the organization, I couldn’t say no.”

The funds will be used to support the organization and their efforts to foster a strong community and support the cultural growth, quality of life and economic growth of our area.

PRIDE, an acronym, stands for “Positive Results in a Downtown Environment.” PRIDE in Saginaw, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization established in 1975 with goals to contribute to the cultural, social, recreational and economic life of the central area and, thereby, the entire Saginaw Community.

Sponsored events include Friday Night Live, Annual Holiday Parade, Holidays in the Heart of the City, Harvest Days at the Market, Ice Blast, and the Annual Memorial Day Parade. PRIDE in Saginaw, Inc. is active in the Downtown Saginaw Association, the Saginaw County Veterans Memorial Plaza, Friends of Hoyt Park, and the Downtown Saginaw Farmers’ Market.

“This is a wonderful showing of support from a true corporate neighbor,” remarked PRIDE President Terry Rock. “The Great Lakes Bay Region is fortunate to have companies such as Consumers Energy and their Foundation, willing to partner with organizations such as ours.”

PRIDE works diligently to foster a strong community and supports the cultural growth, quality of life and economic growth of the City.  Their organization is well aware that success in the core of a city will spread to neighboring cities and communities.
