Local Author’s book gives advice for Las Vegas-bound travelers

Lou Gifford’s love of Las Vegas began 25 years ago after he won a trip at a company Christmas party. Since then he and his wife, Kathy, have been making regular trips there. Gifford, a retired electrical engineer from Delphi, and his wife now visit Las Vegas twice a year.

“I always had a desire to write,” said Gifford, “so I decided to write about something I love.” At first, he put together a rough draft and had others read it, and then give him their input.

One thing Gifford realized is that there weren’t many books written about off-Strip hotels and casinos. And since dining, hotel lodging, and entertainment costs have increased by over fifty percent since 2005, he found that he could visit Las Vegas, using the same budget from 2005, and still have a great time at the off-Strip casinos.

Las Vegas – Your Way and the Off-Strip Hotels is a travel/gambling guide filled with useful information about where to stay, which shows and tours are the best value, where to buy discount tickets to shows, and how to save money on food. Gifford offers tips on how to save money and still have fun. He covers what games are offered, table etiquette, getting comps, transportation options, tipping, free attractions, and even a section on what the weather is like at various times of the year.

Gifford’s book is available online at www.booksurge.com and www.amazon.com. For more information, visit his website at www.lasvegasyourway.com.
