...Romance Author...Summer Fun in HemlockThe 2010 Hemlock Summer Recreation Program, which is co-sponsored by Hemlock Public Schools and Richland Township, began on June 22 with its annual Carnival Day, featuring free games, balloons and inflatables (including two new basketball shooters), with a special appearance by “Nate the Great.” Community Safety Awareness Day took place on Thursday, June 24, at the Richland Township Park, with emergency response vehicles, a medical helicopter landing, free children’s fingerprinting, a personally fitted bicycle helmet, fire extinguisher training, plus free information on poison control, fire and bike safety, and hazardous waste materials disposal. Returning again this year was the smoke-house simulator tour (local fire departments) and the popular Precinct 131 Canine Unit. Certified CPS technicians were available to inspect child passenger seats, with information on how parents can safely transport children by using the appropriate child safety seat, or seat belt correctly. Trips and activities such as Kokomo’s, Michigan’s Adventure, Tiger baseball, bowling at Crooked Creek, Mystery Trip, Chuck E. Cheese’s, Zehnder’s Splash Village, and Loons baseball are back for another year. There’s a new added attraction: Waterford Oaks Waterpark on July 1st for only $10.00 (includes cost of transportation). Enjoy a 475,000 gallon wave action pool, plus a group raft ride, and a giant double waterslide. Wednesdays are always busy with lots of fun activities for the entire family. Kids’ Day includes crafts, Sporties for Shorties at the Richland Township Park, and swimming in Midland (Plymouth Park Pool). Returning again this year is the ALL FREE Community Picnic and Swim. Enjoy the Fun Zone, hot dogs and pop picnic followed by two and half hours of swimming at the beautiful Plymouth Park pool in Midland (sponsored by the Hemlock Lions Club). Also in the month of July will be free tennis lessons and Tennis Carnival. Information on the Hemlock Summer Recreation program is available in a free flyer distributed by the Saginaw Valley Shopper.
