Just your friendly neighborhood Hallmark store

Running four separate businesses is a lot of work, but Robert and Denise Binder, owners of two Binders Hallmarks in Saginaw, and one in Frankenmuth, as well as Stroebels of Saginaw, feel it’s a blessing. Denise Binder gives credit to the good and dedicated people working and managing each store for their continued success.

Binders Hallmark in Frankenmuth, located at 461 N. Main Street, was the Binders’ first store to be purchased in 2000, and will be celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. This coincides with Hallmark’s 100th anniversary. Store manager, Heidi Jones, has been with Binders Hallmark since the beginning, and has been with Hallmark for 20 years.

“When we first bought the store, we found there was much more involved than we had anticipated,” said Denise Binder. “If it weren’t for Heidi teaching me everything I know, things may not have gone as smoothly.” Plans for special events are in the works to commemorate the Frankenmuth store’s 10th year in business.

Binders Hallmark, located at 4620 State Street (Green Acres Plaza), which opened in 2004, is managed by Donna Basner. Donna has been with the State Street location since the beginning, and has been with Hallmark for 15 years.

Saginaw’s other Binders Hallmark store is located at 3395 Tittabawassee Road (next to Old Navy), and opened in 2006. Store manager, Vicki Begick, started her 20 year career with Hallmark when she was in high school. She worked at Hallmark in Oscoda and Tawas, and even spent time on the road as a Hallmark representative.

The record of longevity is remarkable in regards to the employees of Hallmark. “Working for Hallmark seems to get in your blood,” remarked Denise Binder. “You think of your customers as good friends, and want to do everything you can for them.”

Between the three managers, there is 55 years of combined experience with Hallmark, which is then passed on to their customers. During the 2009 Christmas season, stores in general, didn’t stock as many items as in previous years, and because of this, Binders Hallmark store employees were willing to do whatever it took to fill their customers’ needs, even if it meant sending them to another store.
