...Romance Author...81st Annual Greens Sale and Bazaar
The Woman’s National Farm & Garden Association (WNF&GA) will be holding their 81st annual Greens Sale and Bazaar, Monday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Germania Town & Country Club. The first Christmas greens exhibit, called “Christmas Market and Exhibit,” was held December 8, 1932, at First Congregational Church. It was not planned as a bazaar or sale, although some of the small items could be purchased. The WNF&GA has been using the same recipe for the last 80 years, making approximately 400 pounds of peanut brittle at Saginaw Township’s First United Methodist Church, rotating shifts over several weeks. Michigan Sugar donates around 360 pounds of sugar every year. This will also be their second year making 10-oz. bags of delicious chocolate peanut clusters. Their peanut brittle and chocolate clusters are so popular most of it is sold through pre-orders before the Greens Sale and Bazaar. In fact, they’ve already had an order for 50 lbs of peanut brittle! The peanut brittle sells for $6.00 per one pound bag, and the chocolate clusters are $6.00 for a 10-oz bag. Last year they were sold out by 10:30. If you would like to place a pre-order, call Mary Jo McInerney at 781-1304. Along with knits, holiday greens and poinsettias at the Greens Sale and Bazaar, there will also be outside vendors with a variety of garden related items, an upscale tag sale with gently used items from Mary’s Attic, and a raffle. Some of the raffle prizes include a gourmet gift basket, handmade afghan, handmade quilt, decorated wreath, and a watering can. Proceeds will benefit Saginaw beatification projects and educational programs. Founded in 1914, the WNF&GA is an environmental group comprised of branches, garden clubs and special interest environmental organizations. WNF&GA promotes an ever-expanding range of programs and projects while providing opportunities for members to learn, to share and to support a variety of interests. Their mission is to improve communities and the world through education and activities related to their focuses: civic service, education/scholarship, environmental concerns, floral arts, gardening, horticultural therapy and international cooperation For more information on the Saginaw Branch of the Woman’s National Farm & Garden Association, or to place pre-orders, call Mary Jo McInerney at 781-1304.
