G.O.A.L. at FaithWay Church

Go. Open doors. Alleviate pain. Lead leaders (G.O.A.L.). These are the 4 commitments of the Great Lakes Bay Area FaithWay Church. Church is not just a place we gather, but an experience that allows us to offer hope inspired by faith in God as we Go about our lives. We Open Doors by inviting conversation around matters of faith. Sympathy, empathy, and compassion is how we see, feel, and do something about another’s pain in order to Alleviate it. We teach and train to equip leaders, who, in turn, equip leaders to better our community.

FaithWay Church, located at 5671 Bay Rd., next to Bicycle Village in Saginaw Township, aspires to develop significant relationships, to engage people who are looking for a connection, foster spiritual inquiry, supporting the journey, and promote deep relationships through intentional spiritual conversation.

The church does not exist for its own benefit, but for those who are in desperate need of the kindness of God, even if they don’t realize they need it.  They look for creative ways to engage our community in order to share the hope they’ve found in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Michael Sawicki, or “Michael T.” as he likes to be called, came to this area after ministering for 9 years at the Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon, MI. He grew up on an agricultural farm near Port Huron in a little town called Memphis, MI. He attended Adrian College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts and Religion. After that, he spent four years at Asbury Seminary in Lexington, KY. While attending the seminary, Sawicki pastored in a small town called Gravel Switch.

“I knew from the 6th grade that I had a calling,” Sawicki said. “I may have wandered off the path for a bit, early on, but I ultimately followed what was in my heart.”

Sawicki and his wife, Patty, have two daughters, Hannah, age 9, and FaithAnne, age 7. FaithAnne was born with spina bifida, and so they sponsored a “Special Day for Special Kids,” that took place at Rainbow’s End Park, located behind the Sam’s Club and Walmart shopping centers, on April 24. This free event provided a fun day for kids with special needs, which included snacks, drinks, a carnival, games, prizes, and activities. Rainbow’s End is a fully accessible park with special attractions for all ages.

Currently, the church is presenting “Messages Relevant to Everyday Life” in three Preview Services. “Mothers Change the World” was held on Mother’s Day, May 9. “Small Steps to BIG Impact” will be May 16, and “Becoming a Catalyst” is scheduled for May 23. Each service time is 11:00 a.m., and everyone is welcome.

You can also visit the Market Place Ministry, and talk with Pastor Michael T. at the Fashion Square Mall. Their kiosk is located in the center court in front of Macy’s.
