Christmas Candlelight Walk

Saginaw Township Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief

The Diocese of Saginaw Catholic Cemeteries held its annual Christmas Candlelight Walk Saturday December 4th, at St. Andrew Cemetery, 381 St. Andrews Rd. in Saginaw Township.

Each year, friends and relatives gather together in support of each other, to cope with grief, and to pray for loved ones who have joined the Community of Saints. During the memorial service, three candles are lit, representing the past, the present, and the future of each deceased person and of our lives. Individualized ornaments are placed on the Tree of Remembrance to celebrate the life and memories of loved ones.

The Candlelight Walk begins in the cemetery chapel with the singing of Christmas Carols, prayers, the lighting of each other’s candles, and is followed by a procession through specially marked, lantern-lit pathways.
