Assistant Saginaw County Prosecutor James Borchard donates 100th pint of blood

Assistant Saginaw County Prosecutor James Borchard began donating blood when he was just 18 years old. What started out as a good excuse to get some free juice and cookies turned into a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Today, in recognition for his 100th blood donation, Borchard received his 12 gallon pin (100 pints equals 12.5 gallons), awarded by Gail Manntz, Michigan Blood Recruitment Supervisor.

Borchard has served as an assistant prosecutor for more than 11 years. During his time in the prosecutor’s office, Borchard has helped take dangerous criminals off the streets. His convictions include those charged with murder, rape, child abuse, domestic violence, armed robbery and drug-related crimes.

In addition to his time in the prosecutor’s office, Borchard spent 21 years in private practice where he primarily handled family law cases. He is now following in his late father’s footsteps. The Honorable Fred J. Borchard was a judge for municipal, probate and circuit courts for 54 years, making him the longest-serving judge in the history of the state of Michigan.

James Borchard is running for judge in the 10th Circuit Court, where he believes he can make the greatest contributions to his community.
