Party at MI Place

Party at MI Place - Astronaut Michael Foreman

For 20 years, The Michigan Festivals & Events Association (MFEA) has been publishing calendar brochures and distributing them for free at Michigan Welcome Centers, AAA Michigan Centers, and McDonald’s restaurants throughout the state. The MFEA’s “Party at MI Place” campaign is designed to bring awareness to Michigan’s festivals, events and celebrations.

The Space Shuttle Atlantis, piloted by Michigan-born astronaut, Dominic Antonelli, carried the “Party at MI Place” banner on the last mission of Atlantis into space. Atlantis returned on May 26, 2010 after a successful mission to the International Space Station.

On Friday, July 16, NASA astronaut Michael Foreman presented the “Party at MI Place” banner to Sue Bila, Executive Director of The MFEA, at an event that took place at the Delta College Planetarium, 100 Center Ave. in downtown Bay City. Applied Graphics of Auburn and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), were also sponsors of the event.

Foreman, a former Naval Aviator, joined NASA in 1998 after logging over 5,000 flight hours in more than 50 different aircraft. He is a veteran of two space flights to the International Space Station, and has participated in five space walks totaling over 32 hours.
