Saginaw Township Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief

Assistant Chief Linda Schluchter of the Saginaw Township Fire Department spent her last day on the job Wednesday, December 1st. In her 28th year, Schluchter began her career in code enforcement at the Township Building Department. Eighteen months after that, she became the township’s first fire inspector.

When offered an early retirement option, Schluchter decided to take advantage of what she saw as a good opportunity. “I really enjoyed my years with the fire department,” Schluchter said, “although it was a challenge at first, being a female in a male-dominated environment.”

A steady stream of friends and well-wishers came to the Saginaw Township Fire Department Headquarters, 4930 Shattuck Rd., to show their appreciation and say their good-byes on Schluchter’s last day.
